@leocg Let's hope they can sort it out as I'd prefer not having to hack my browser settings just to use a function that is much the highlight of my Opera usage.

RE: [Duplicated]Dragging images between tabs on new update doesn't workOpera GX
@leocg So far so good, not had any issues with updates using this method.
Why they went and removed a completely useful action (drag and drop between tabs) has me bewildered.
All it achieved was slow down my workflow and add 3 extra steps to once was a single drag and drop action. -
RE: [Duplicated]Dragging images between tabs on new update doesn't workOpera GX
@MVDSGNCW I found a post here in the forum which had these instructions so I thought why the heck not try it since I've practically tried everything else. This worked for me to get my old UI back using the updated GX.
First unhide files/folders Windows option
Go to C:\UsersUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable\ and edit the "Local State" file with any text editor (try Notepad).
Using Ctrl+F find "gxx_flags":{"enabled":true," and change "true" to "false".
Save the file and then change it's properties to "Read Only" so Opera doesn't revert back to the new UI when you close or reopen it.

@MVDSGNCW Dragging links between tabs also doesn't work any more, I've reverted back to the old UI.

RE: [Duplicated]No option to revert to old UIOpera GX
@lDzianis Awesome, works perfectly.
For some strange reason the new UI would no longer allow me to drag n drop download links into my file host. -
RE: Browser still crashing!Opera GX
@bestcodes Well this is a public forum and I've read worse language here.
My thread is no different from others expressing their own frustrations about issues with Opera and I only started my own thread to prevent hijacking another of which I was offering suggestions to a couple of fellow frustrated users.
"simply report the bugs, preferably with screenshots, and give your system info".
Well yeah, you must have missed the part above about sending crash reports and posting my system info of which I also stated that it isn't hardware related.
"I love Opera. Keep up the good work! No issues here for me, Ubuntu 23.10, Opera Dev, Beta, and Stable. Also, Neon and GX on Windows 10, 7, and 11".
Good for you, I'm between testing and trying other browsers and if the devs can iron out all the bugs so this shipwreck can sail smoothly then I'll continue to use it at my own discretion.
Already tried the nice approach which went unanswered, followed the rules whilst sitting back as others broke them, uploaded the screenshots of both reports and crashes, sent the diagnostics but still crickets, however, I'm still determined to get around this or else I wouldn't still be here.
Nothing wrong with the direct approach to realize issues continue regarding the same unfortunate circumstances, and if devs are having trouble handling criticism about the issues users are facing with their software then they're in the wrong profession.
You've offered nothing to help, fix or improve my situation. The only thing you are concerned about is how I registered my frustration in the forum.
Like I said, I've read replies that are far worse here, users dropping f-bombs.
Have a great day.
.........................................................................Note to devs, tile issue is indeed that of the said extension "Home Button at Top Right" of which I have disabled until the developer releases an update. I found that the home button does not completely refresh the browser when going back to the start/home/speed dial page.
Now another issue has popped up which has to do with not enough memory, trying some suggestions I found online.

RE: Browser still crashing!Opera GX
Well that didn't last long, not two weeks since starting this thread and Opera GX has gone back to crashing, and also Facebook and Youtube video's are randomly freezing causing the whole browser to crash. Useless!

RE: Browser still crashing!Opera GX
Running update version LVL5 (core: 105.0.4970.63)1 and all seems steady, still having issues with the "Home Button at Top Right" extension though which is a downer because I like having to open speed dial in the same page. Opera devs, make a home button!
-
RE: Browser still crashing!Opera GX
Okay crashing seems to have settled after the LVL5 core: 105.0.4970.59 update.
Running stable but having a slight issue with a home button extension called: home button at top right.
With this extension enabled, clicking on a group of tiles on my speed dial sometimes doesn't work, meaning it wont open the group unless I disable the extension, restart Opera or just open a new start page/speed dial page.Single tile shortcuts work fine, so I'm guessing it could be the extension.
Will post an update when I sort out the minor issue with the extension.

Browser still crashing!Opera GX
Well, this browser just keeps going back to it's former state of randomized crashes.
Before you offer any suggestions, yes I've already tried everything, disabling extensions, resetting, clearing the cache, reinstalling.
Here's my OS setup:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 23H2
Installed 26/05/2022
OS build 22635.2850
Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22681.1000.0You don't need to see my hardware specs as it is not a hardware related issue.
Seems this shit just never ends where a fresh Opera install only lasts less than a month before it starts behaving like crap again and begins crashes every day.
I use the exact same extensions on Microsoft Edge without a single crash or issue so it definitely isn't anything extension related but I guess Edge just comes with improved performance and better compatibility with Chrome extensions where Opera does not?
I thought it might be some websites I'm loading which might be too graphic intensive for Opera to handle, for example streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime, YouTube or the UHD content on my Plex server, but crashes are nowhere to be seen on Microsoft Edge when using these services.
I'm only putting up with using Opera because I haven't yet found a decent speed dial app to replace or consider to be a better alternative to Opera's speed dial. I prefer the speed dial rather than wasting clicks on the bookmarks bar simply because you can group website shortcuts into their own category which is easy accessible rather than scrolling through the toolbars bookmarks folder.
Because of it's crash frequency, I've gotten to the point where I just discard or ignore the crash reports, even with the crash reports I did submit, I never hear back from you guys.

RE: Opera GX crashes and closes when trying to open itOpera GX
@supyis Not sure but since they have two versions, the basic opera and the gx gaming version, you would think they would be consistent with updates but they're pretty slow.
Crashes have started slipping in to my gx browser again so it's definitely an opera issue as this has been it's normal routine behavior, opera crashes, I reset it, it works good for a while then out of the blue it crashes again.
Never had so many crashes in a browser than opera, the only reason I use it is because I haven't found a speed dial alternative.
-
RE: Opera GX crashes and closes when trying to open itOpera GX
@supyis It's not your new PC that's the issue, it's Opera, I would use another browser till there's an update that will fix it. My crash issue just disappeared after a refresh and update but a new one has popped up in it's place, I've had to use Edge a few times to access some sites that Opera crashes on or wont even load due to issues with Java. Good luck!

RE: Opera GX crashes and closes when trying to open itOpera GX
@supyis Latest Opera update seems to have fixed it for now as my browser hasn't crashed since.

@youareallbutthurt said in Eric André and Opera GX bury boring browsers in chaotic rampage:
@rastanz My man, you're just butt hurt cause he spooked ya.
Lmao, your reply is more hilarious than the splash screen.

RE: Opera GX crashes and closes when trying to open itOpera GX
@supyis Nah, the only help you'll get here is from fellow users, devs never reply to posts.
All I can suggest is use the recovery option, I've had to use it twice in a span of 72 hours because my first reset fixed one issue but started another so I had to reset a second time which sorted it out for now.
Downside of the recovery option is it's real f... annoying as you have to redo every customization that you previously applied to Opera including re-installing / re-enabling all your extensions.
-
RE: Eric André and Opera GX bury boring browsers in chaotic rampageBlogs
Seems like Eric André is desperately seeking an audience because his shows suck and he's not funny. If he's on a boring browser rampage then he should take a long look in the mirror at his own material!

RE: [Compilation] Discussions on the Opera GX start/splash screenOpera GX
Yep, apart from the usual crashes and freezes that presents itself with every update of Opera GX (like clockwork), your added Eric Andre splash intro is annoying as fuck.
Like many have suggested here, I also deleted the startup exe from the install folder to be rid of that screaming dickhead.
Why OPERA devs? If your intention was to have all your supporters jump ship to another browser simply because you think this stupid prank was funny then you probably succeeded.
Dumb ass move.

Opera updates regularly crashes.Opera for computers
Hi there community.
Anyone experiencing random crashes?
The latest GX update LVL5 (core: 102.0.4880.99) crashes randomly, I've applied ALL the recommended fixes in the help menu but it still happens, it's becoming frustrating and annoying as I'll lose all current progress when it happens especially if I'm typing a reply or visiting regular websites.
Thought it might be my Nvidia settings or a memory leak causing the random crashes but even after a system scan no issues were detected, task manager doesn't show any signs of background conflicts either, the issue doesn't present itself on other browsers Brave or Edge just Opera,
Also not a fan of the new tiles layout on the speed dial randomly using an image from a bookmarked website,
Crashed While Typing This Subject.
The newer version is ugly as fug and just makes the speed dial page look like a big mess as Opera defaults to using either a low resolution image found on the site or no image at all, also, not all image extensions and their dimensions found on a bookmarked site are supported which requires downloading of the image then manual conversion and resizing in an image editor, which is my reason for changing to GX because GX still uses the older default layout. JUST the color tile and the website title header (I find this aesthetically cleaner).
I use five extensions with Opera, Adblock Plus, Turn off the Lights, YouTube Enhancer, Home Button (because GX doesn't have one) and JDownloader. These plugin extensions have never presented any issues with older versions of Opera or Opera GX. I'm not willing to roll back to a previous version as I like to keep things up to date on my system.
I'm a bit stumped, I'm trying to avoid another complete uninstall reinstall again. Any suggestions other than the obvious help subject remedies would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

RE: Speed Dial is Not ShowingOpera for Windows
@kuhlkees Check the Speed Dial folder, it may have moved your tiles to another location further down the folder tree and Opera is having trouble locating them or not finding them at all.
Happened to me when I was updating my extensions and installing some live wallpaper, the Speed Dial folder reset itself and emptied out all my tiles and relocated them to my imported / other bookmarks folder. I had to manually move my tiles back into the Speed Dial folder for it to start working normally again.
